Activities on Generative Artificial Intelligence in Education

OTRAS NOVEDADES

Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) is a topic that has generated a great deal of debate in today’s society. On the one hand, GAI is presented as a tool with the potential to improve and democratize education, while on the other hand, its rapid technological evolution poses important risks and challenges.

In this context, the Digital Transformation Center of the Technological University has decided to take an active role and promote activities on generative artificial intelligence in education. The objective of these initiatives is to provide teachers and students with the necessary tools to understand, use, and apply GAI responsibly and effectively in the educational field.

To this end, a series of actions have been planned at different levels.

Course on ChatGPT

We invite teachers to participate in the course “Introduction to ChatGPT.” This course provides an introduction to ChatGPT, from registration to mastering its advanced functions. The course content can be accessed for free on the EDX platform, and the certificate has a cost.

ChatGPT is a natural language processing (NLP) model based on OpenAI’s pre-trained generative transformer (GPT). The topics covered include conversing with ChatGPT, customizing it, using it for productivity and chatbot creation, as well as advanced applications such as language translation and creative content generation. Best practices and tips for using ChatGPT are also included.

Meetings with UTEC teachers

We will be conducting workshops in the field during the first semester on the use of AI in Higher Education.

We are scheduling meetings with different departments to address this topic in a focused manner, with a primary focus on evaluation (coordinated with the department’s management)

Activities with Educational Communities

We encourage the educational communities of each center to exchange ideas on the topic and generate activities which we will take as inputs to enrich the strategy that CTD is implementing at the national level. We will collaborate in the dissemination of these instances and recommend participating in exchanges between IES and experts on this topic that calls us as professionals
