Open Loop Program

OTRAS NOVEDADES

Our University was selected to participate in the Open Loop Uruguay program!!

This program consists in testing a proposal for a regulatory framework and a manual of technologies to preserve privacy with startups and companies or public entities who handle a great deal of data and use AI, VR or AR apps in their products, services or experiences. The knowledge and experience acquired from this test will lead to the creation of recommendations for public policies on the use of Privacy Enhancing Technologies (PETs).

It is led by the Meta Open Loop team, the Eon Resilience Lab of C Minds, the Inter-American Development Bank (BID) and the BID LAB in collaboration with the Agency for Electronic Government and Information and Knowledge Society (AGESIC) and the Uruguayan Unit for Personal Data Regulation and Control (URCDP).

This project is part of Meta’s experimental global governance program, called Open Loop, which aims to advance towards regulatory and technological innovation.

Its main objectives are:

  • To train startups, companies and government entities in Uruguay in the techniques, tools, challenges and opportunities around PETs, contributing to a wider use of them
  • To help companies, startups and public projects identify risks related to privacy that may be alleviated with the right PETs via specific risk assessment
  • To try new ways to put key data protection concepts into practice
  • To explore and extrapolate how this public policy prototype would work, especially towards risk assessment and the application of PETs in a metaverse context

The program lasts three months.
